Eddie Reasoner pays his respects to Journalist Charles Kuralt
CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina -- As we approach this Fourth of July Weekend - I ask that you remember a great American Journalist ....Mr. Charles Kuralt. Kuralt passed on July 4, 1997. Many of you may remember him from his award winning CBS Series "On the Road", his many reports on the CBS Nightly News, and of course CBS's "SUNDAY MORNING". I recently had the opportunity to pay my respects to Mr. Kuralt at his gravesite appropriately located on the grounds of the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill - where he began his career. He was, without a doubt - one of the most prolific and patriotic journalists to ever grace a pen or a camera. I continually remember and thank him for his wonderful stories of America and it's people - his inspiration and encouragement to me personally to complete my documentary film (which I did just prior to his passing) and to all of us that he touched so deeply with his talent. To just say that Charles Kuralt was the Poet Laureate of the common man would be an understatement. Charles Kuralt - A True American Patriot - please remember Mr. Kuralt this 4th of July.
